More lag time between posts and I’m sorry for that. It’s been rather a slow week in the news sources I look at, but I’m thinking of doing another post on my favorite villains. I keep realizing that I’ve missed so many good ones. Yeah…

Well I can tell you that I’ve finally finished The Golden Compass. Big twist at the ending for me. I felt like Mrs. Coulter just lost all of her cool points (forgive the vernacular, but I am impassioned). She was cruel, she was smooth… and at the end it just got weird. Otherwise, despite my differences of faith with Mr. Pullman, I quite liked his writing style, overall. He has quite a knack for interesting description. I don’t know whether the plot got slow or if I just got too busy, but I did lose interest for a while and came back to finish it last night. Would I recommend it? Maybe… I don’t think it’s for everyone. It’s not so much the faith issue in this first book as it is an element of style which, I think, is an acquired taste in this instance.
